BADSHAH BREAKS BILLION BARRIER
Indian rapper Badshah has reached a milestone with his 2016 hit “Kala Chashma” surpassing 1 billion views on YouTube. The song, featuring Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra from the film “Baar Baar Dekho,” marks the first time an Indian rapper has achieved this feat. The achievement comes weeks before Badshah’s scheduled headlining performance at the Mirchi Fest in the Netherlands.
Badshah expressed gratitude for the milestone, stating, “It’s a testament to the incredible support and love I’ve received from my fans.” He views the achievement as a sign of growing acceptance for Indian hip-hop globally.

RED CARPET ROLLOUT
Italian production firm Blu Yazmine has acquired the local rights to Nippon TV’s hit unscripted game show “Red Carpet Survival.” The Italian production, comprising 30-to-60-minute episodes, was filmed near Milan and is set to stream on Prime Video Italy in 2025.
“Red Carpet Survival” is a high-energy game show where contestants act as bodyguards who must safely escort a celebrity VIP. Their mission is to make the VIP stay on the red carpet that stretches out to their destination no matter what. It involves suffering physical blows and surviving a series of traps such as huge explosions, attacks by robots and crocodiles secretly set in their path.
The original format was created and produced by the Nippon TV and commissioned to air on its Japanese broadcast network.
TWO INTO ONE
The Asia Video Industry Association (AVIA) and the Korean Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) have agreed to integrate their two trade events set to take place in South Korea at the end of next month.
AVIA’s Korea in View confab will be integrated into BCWW, the annual global broadcasting content convention organized by KOCCA. BCWW will run Aug. 27-29 at COEX in Seoul.
KOCCA will support AVIA in the planning and promotion of Korea in View, while AVIA will do likewise for other sessions within the main BCWW conference program.
As new part of BCWW, Korea in View will also offer complimentary access to all BCWW delegates.
Key topics for discussion include: the latest developments in the Korean video industry and its implications for the wider Asian video eco-system; streaming dynamics; global ambitions and co-production models, in light of rising production costs.
