Calvin Klein is making its stamp this fashion week with a new campaign starring Idris Elba.
Shot by Mert Alas, the campaign video sees Elba strolling through the streets of London, outfitted in Calvin Klein’s Classic Trench Coat, Seersucker Full Zip Shirt Jacket and Sateen Bomber Jacket. He also dons a new slim-fitting suit (offered in wool, sateen and cotton), showcasing the Spring collection’s layering options.
It’s not the first time the “Thor” actor has partnered with Alas, an acclaimed English-based fashion photographer, but it’s by far the most high-profile campaign the pair have worked on together. “I didn’t want to reinvent the wheel. I wanted to be in a classic [Calvin Klein]–looking ad and wanted to just be Idris, you know?” he told Vanity Fair about being tapped for the campaign. “Just to be me and not try to be a model or whatever, just be myself in these shots.”

Elba, who is heading into his third decade of his career, most recently starred in Apple TV’s thriller series “Hijack” last year, and will return as Knuckles in “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” set to release this December.
Calvin Klein is famous for its high-wattage campaign stars. Last month, Jeremy Allen White nearly broke the internet with his shirtless images for the brand’s underwear campaign.
For his campaign, however, Elba knew he would be most confident being a bit more clothed. “These are pieces that I would literally integrate into my wardrobe now,” he said. “When I go places for my career or go to an event, I tend to dress it up. I don’t mind making a splash if I have to. But my day-to-day wear is pretty clean, simple, and functional.”
