Presidency Confirms Suspension Of Usman As NPA Boss, Gives Reason

The presidency has confirmed the suspension of the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman. The suspension according to a statement on Thursday evening by presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari. He added that the suspension of Usman is based on the recommendation of the Ministry of Transportation under Rotimi Amaechi on the need to investigate the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority. The President, therefore, directed Usman to step aside from her role pending the outcome of the investigations by the panel set up while Mr Mohammed Koko will be in acting capacity as the NPA boss.

Appeal Court Did Not Acquit Nnamdi Kanu

The Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has reacted to the ruling of the Court of Appeal concerning the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. Naija News reports that the Appeal Court had on Thursday upheld the appeal of the pro-Biafra activist and struck out charges levelled against him by the Federal Government. Reacting in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, stated that the court only discharged Kanu and did not acquit him.
